How the score works +

One global paper portfolio, fully invested in SPY when bullish and SH when bearish. No real orders are placed. Calls are saved on the server with their actual timestamp and cannot be backdated or reset here.

Nothing starts until you press bullish or bearish. Each call takes effect immediately using the latest synchronized SPY and SH minute-price snapshot. That snapshot and your call timestamp are saved permanently. Outside regular trading hours, the latest available session price is used; the quote timestamp is always shown. Quotes can be delayed, so this is a paper estimate, not a guaranteed executable price.

Both portfolios start at 0% at your first call. Each later toggle preserves your accrued return and switches exposure at its saved snapshot. Alpha = your cumulative return minus buy-and-hold SPY’s cumulative return, in percentage points. This is excess return, not risk-adjusted statistical alpha or proof of skill. Chart ranges zoom the history; returns remain measured since inception.

Yahoo Finance minute prices are refreshed every 15 seconds while the page is visible. Reloading catches up from market history: the past 24 hours use minute observations, and older points roll up by day. Opening the page never starts or resets the portfolio. Historical prices and saved fills are normalized for splits and distributions. Fractional exposure and reinvestment are assumed; taxes, commissions and slippage are excluded. ETF expenses are reflected in prices. SH targets −1× the daily S&P 500 return; its longer-term return is not simply the negative of SPY’s. No background price polling is needed when the site is closed.
